Finance

Batten & Allen Ltd are looking to recruit for a Part Qualified Accountant to support their finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity that will be challenging, varied and will provide exposure to the Company’s management accounting processes. This role will be well-suited for an ACCA or CIMA studier that is keen to add value and be a part of a thriving business. This is a full-time permanent role offering a salary starting from £25,000 plus study support, flexible working hours and other excellent benefits.

The main duties of the Assistant Accountant role will consist of:

  • Assisting with the annual budget preparation
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Assisting with the production of monthly management accounts for a number of business entities
  • Assisting with the month and year-end reporting in line with annual audit process (e.g. accruals, prepayments, journals)
  • Business partnering with a number of stakeholders, dealing with queries and translating financial data
  • Assisting with other accounting/ad hoc duties

Skills/ Experience:

– CIMA or ACCA part qualified

– Advanced Excel skills

– Strong report writing skills

– Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the business

– High level of attention to detail

– Strong organisational and time management skills

– Ability to work autonomously and take ownership of tasks

Batten & Allen Ltd is a family-owned company which specialises in the stamping, plating and assembly of high precision parts to customers in the electronics, automotive, medical and industrial markets. Due to ongoing demand for work, we are looking for a highly motivated individual to join the sales team in a administrator position working Monday – Friday 8.30am – 5.00pm (4.00pm on Friday)

Your responsibilities will include various administrative and or project related duties in support of management and their teams these include but are not limited to:

  • Raising sales orders and invoices
  • Formulating costings and quotations
  • Answering customer phone calls and monitoring sales emails
  • Managing order progression and deadlines
  • Liaising with customers on order progression
  • Assist in the preparation of customer accounts and payments, the management of customer accounts as required.
  • Filing and archiving
  • Assisting with other sales /adhoc duties
  • Administration support to Sales Director

Preferred competencies:

We currently have a vacancy for a Supply Chain Manager to start asap. Workings hours are Monday to Thursday 9 – 5.30 and 9 – 4.30pm on Fridays. As a supply chain manager this role is instrumental in ensuring that the company’s supply chain runs smoothly and efficiently. The role will ensure that suppliers provide the best combination of quality, price and service levels to support our customers and production needs. The role will plan, organise and control production to ensure that it is undertaken efficiently, on time, within budget and to our high-quality standards. The role is a member of the Senior Management Team and is expected to contribute at a strategic level as well as managing day-to-day operations.

Applicants would ideally be degree educated and have knowledge of supply chain management, in addition to the following competencies:-

  • Good negotiation skills
  • Demonstrable leadership skills
  • Able to communicate well with more senior members of the Batten and Allen Team as well as with peers and the wider team
  • Understanding of the need for high levels of customer service
  • Numerate and literate
  • Understands how MRP works and can production plan in a clear and concise manner

Responsibilities:

  • Negotiating and communicating with suppliers
  • Ensuring the company has adequate inventory for the given order book situation and maintain safety stocks for particular customers and eventualities
  • Within the confines of the point immediately above, implement robust systems to minimise inventories
  • Ensuring input price lists are maintained and that material and other costs are accurately reflected in our quotations and sales contracts
  • Planning production schedules to ensure that output matches customer demands and that on-time delivery is greater than 98%
  • Eliminate overdue shipments and maintain high levels of on-time-delivery
  • Work with production management to help improve press shop efficiencies and output through improved planning
  • Communicate regularly and proactively with customers to provide them with the best customer service levels
  • Operating and maintaining MRP processes
  • Help install an ethos of problem solving and a proactive approach to dealing with issues
  • Prepare and maintain production reports, overdue reports and on-time delivery KPI’s
  • Ensure efficient collaboration and co-ordination between relevant departments including procurement, distribution and quality
